Last month we talked about a few tips to keep cool if your A/C goes out. Like before, do not hesitate to call us at Cranbury Comfort Systems. We will be on the way just as soon as we can to come get your A/C back up and running in no time. Meanwhile, here are the rest of the tips you use to keep the heat at bay.
5. No alcohol or caffeine – I know, I know. Coffee is necessary for some to get going in the a.m. Caffeine and alcohols are diuretics, meaning each produces more urine, and this can lead to dehydration. Water is the best bet, and water is the healthiest drink of choice anyway.
6. Avoid the sun – Do your outdoor work early in the a.m. or later in the p.m. It may seem warmer inside, but it is not. The insulation in your home is actually keeping cool in.
7. Swimming – A pool is a great thing for anyone to have, and if you know someone with a pool or are a pool owner, great! Small kiddy pools are good too, especially on a hot afternoon in the shade. Another option is to take a cool shower or bath to cool off.
8. Keep the lights off – Lights are not needed in the day unless absolutely necessary. Change incandescent bulbs to fluorescent. Fluorescent bulbs consume less energy and do not generate as much heat.
9. Head to the basement – You live in New Jersey, so chances are you have a basement. Since a basement is partially underground, it can be up to 10-15 degrees cooler than the main part of the home.
Hot weather can be dangerous unless you take some precautions. No one wants their A/C to go out, but it will eventually as a mechanical contrivance. Be sure to call us at Cranbury Comfort Systems if yours goes out or if you would like routine or preventative maintenance. We are here to help you!
